Setup Selfie Expression - Jeka8833/FoxyFace GitHub Wiki

Note

The main problem is that one camera can be used by only one application (the camera in most cases cannot split the video stream between two applications). These instructions will help you split a video stream into two applications.

Tip

If you are on Windows 11 Build 26100.3323 or later, released in February 2025, you have access to a built-in method for sharing a camera between multiple applications.

Note: This feature depends on your hardware and drivers; not all cameras support this function. If you don't see this option, use the OBS method described below.

Before enabling this feature, make sure to close FoxyFace and VRChat.

  1. Go to SettingsBluetooth & devicesCameras.
  2. Select your camera from the list.
  3. Open Advanced Camera Options.
  4. Enable "Allow multiple apps to use camera at the same time" and click Apply.

You can watch the video instructions for this sequence here: How to enable "Allow multiple apps to use camera at the same time".

After enabling the setting, launch FoxyFace and VRChat, and then configure the camera in both applications. Now you can set the same physical camera for both FoxyFace and Selfie Expression without using OBS.

  1. Install OBS application. Video instructions can be found here, but you don't need to create any scenes, just install the app.
  2. Close VRChat and FoxyFace app.
  3. Add your physical webcam to the scene in OBS; the instructions on how to do this are here. If you are using your phone as a webcam, then use the instructions here.
  4. Click on the Start Virtual Camera button, here are instructions on how to do it.
  5. Start VRChat game.
  6. Enable Selfie Expression, video instructions can be found here.
  7. If you have not selected OBS Virtual Camera, then click on the Change Webcam Device button.

  8. Check the box next to OBS Virtual Camera.

  9. Start FoxyFace app.

  10. Open the camera settings in FoxyFace.

  11. Hardest part. Select OBS Virtual Camera in FoxyFace.

To do this, check if the image from OBS matches the Camera Preview in FoxyFace; if not, increase the Camera ID by one and click the "Apply and Save" button. Repeat this procedure until the image from OBS matches the Camera Preview in FoxyFace. The camera count in Camera ID starts from 0.

  1. Next, customize the parameters you want to track by disabling the unnecessary ones in the avatar, FoxyFace, or Selfie Expression settings.
