How to Use HardEd by fluffypuppy. Discussion

NOTE: as far as I know, you cannot create new HODs from scratch. You need to open an existing one and then save it as something else.

HardEd is available here.

1. Run the program.
2. Click on File > Open to open an existing ".hod" file.
3. Click on the plus boxes to expand the branches/children.
4. Look at existing HODs to better understand the layout. Also, read existing threads that explain a little about what "Position", "Direction", "Rest", etc. mean (you'll learn about it by reading the docs in the RDN tools as well).
5. To ADD a new hardpoint...

a. Click on the main "children" box (i.e., Root\Children) to open it.
b. Go to the top menu and select Entry > Add Child.
c. Scroll to the bottom, you will now see "NewEntryX", where "X" is the number of the new entry. You can now set up this new hardpoint however you wish.

6. To edit a hard point and its info...

a. Click on "NewEntryX", and then on "Data" to open up a list of attributes. Click on any of the attributes to open a list of values.
b. Click on any of the values once, then click again so that the text is editable (this works just like renaming a file or desktop icon). Do not double-click, as this will just expand the branch and open the view to its children. Type in whatever you need to type. Click elsewhere to get out of that text area.

Notes

When inputting a number, always place a space before the number. See this thread for more information.
