Grannus View

Grannus is an M2 type and red dwarf star. It was introduced in v1.2.0 of Galileo's Planet Pack and warranted the creation of the GPP Career Saver patch to prevent the usual game-breaking effects of adding or removing a celestial in the middle of a playthrough.

Like Ciro, Grannus also possesses Karborundum and an asteroid field, making travel here worthwhile for users of certain USI mods.

At around 7 Gm (little under Eve's orbit in the stock solar system), ambient heat becomes noticeable and a hazard to EVA kerbals. Ciro and itself virtually become a binary system due to having a 2:1 mass ratio but this is not implemented as their difference in distance makes it impractical and unnoticeable, and the impacts on career mode and career mods would be too much effort to cover for.

It is currently unknown whether official Galilean planets will appear in orbit around Grannus but in the meantime, players are enabled and allowed to add their own if they so desire.

Stats compared to Ciro:

  • 1x luminosity (ideally 0.033x but to remedy solar panel issues it's set to 1x)
  • 0.5x solar masses
  • 0.43x solar radii
  • 2.76x surface gravity
