The National Railway Equipment Company or NRE for short was formed in 1984 and is rather well known for both manufacturing and remanufacturing locomotives. Included in that list is the plethora of gensets in their "N-ViroMotive" series that NRE had started in 2005 (a.k.a when Tier 2 Emissions Standards came into effect). Since then, they’ve kinda stepped away from gensets, but they still do make engines for both domestic use and for export.
