Cars and Tanks
Burner vehicles
Cars and tanks are burner vehicles that consume fuel while accelerating. More processed fuels (solid fuel, rocket fuel) improve acceleration and top speed. Vehicles can carry items in their cargo slots as well as fuel slots. Picking up a vehicle empties its cargo first, then removes the vehicle itself — any partially burned fuel item is lost.
To use a vehicle:
- Place it with
LEFT BRACKETand insert fuel usingCTRL + LEFT BRACKETwith fuel in hand. - Enter or exit with
ENTER. - Drive by holding an arrow key in the direction you want to go. The car turns toward that direction and accelerates. Holding the opposite direction brakes; if already stopped, it reverses.
- Press
Kfor heading, speed, and coordinates. - Press
RIGHT BRACKETfor health and fuel status.
For long-distance travel, Kruise Kontrol (CTRL + ALT + RIGHT BRACKET) handles driving automatically with pathfinding. It is less precise than manual driving but much easier for getting across the map. See Kruise Kontrol.
When driving toward an object, the game produces regular alert beeps that get faster as you approach. Press J to identify the last object that triggered a beep.
Car
The car is a fast vehicle for traversing large distances. It handles quickly but is easy to crash — obstacles are everywhere and collisions damage both the car and whatever it hits. Small biters and trees can be rammed safely, but hitting larger enemies at speed can destroy the car and its contents. If the car is destroyed the engineer ejects safely, but the inventory does not survive.
The car has a machine gun mounted on its roof that fires faster and farther than a handheld submachine gun. Ammunition is inserted the same way as fuel. The car has 80 cargo slots and inserters can interact with it like a chest.
Tank
The tank is a heavier and more durable vehicle than the car. It moves more slowly but can absorb far more damage, making it suited for fighting into enemy bases. The tank has three weapons: a machine gun, a cannon that fires tank shells for high single-target damage, and a flamethrower. Cycle between weapons using SHIFT + E. The tank also has an equipment grid, so you can install equipment modules into it just as you would into armor.
The tank has 80 cargo slots and accepts inserter interaction like a chest.
