Troubleshooting & Frequently Asked Questions

Encountered an issue, recruit? Before calling for an orbital strike on your PC, check these common field reports. Many issues can be resolved with simple procedural adjustments.

### My hotkeys aren't working! What should I check first?

This is the most common issue and usually has a simple fix. Follow this checklist in order:

  1. Is the Listener Active? Look at the top-right of the application window. The button should be red and say Deactivate Hotkeys. If it's green, the listener is offline. Click it to activate.
  2. Is the Game Focused? The Stratagem Helper sends keystrokes to the currently active window. You must click inside the Helldivers 2 game window to make sure it's "in focus" before pressing a hotkey.
  3. Was a Setting Just Changed? As a safety feature, the hotkey system automatically deactivates whenever you change a slot, loadout, or certain settings. This is to ensure it always uses your latest configuration. Check the Activity Log for a warning message and simply click Activate Hotkeys again.

### I have a special gaming mouse. Why won't my extra side buttons work as hotkeys?

The application can reliably detect the standard 5 mouse buttons (Left, Right, Middle/Scroll Wheel, and two side buttons commonly called Mouse 4 & Mouse 5).

Many gaming mice have extra buttons beyond these five. These buttons often do not send a standard signal that programs can easily capture.

The Solution: Use your mouse's own software (e.g., Razer Synapse, Logitech G HUB, Corsair iCUE) to remap that extra mouse button to an unused keyboard key. A great choice is one of the higher function keys like F13 through F24, or a key on the numpad you don't use. Then, in the Stratagem Helper, set that keyboard key as your hotkey.

### How do I back up or move my settings and loadouts to another computer?

All of your personal data is stored safely in your user profile, separate from the main application. This makes backups easy.

  1. Press Win+R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type in %APPDATA% and press Enter.
  3. This will open a folder like C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming.
  4. Inside, find the DevRight Studios folder, and inside that, the Stratagem Helper folder.
  5. Simply copy this entire Stratagem Helper folder to a safe place. To restore or move to a new PC, just place this folder in the same %APPDATA%\DevRight Studios\ location.

### The application crashed on startup. What can I do?

A crash is rare, but can sometimes be caused by a corrupted settings file, often from a manual edit or an unexpected shutdown.

The Fix: You can perform a "factory reset" by deleting the settings folder mentioned above. The application will automatically recreate a fresh, default set of files the next time it launches. Warning: This will reset your custom loadouts and themes.

If the problem persists, please report the bug!

### I found a bug not listed here! How do I report it?

Your feedback is essential for improving the application! The best way to report a bug or suggest a feature is to use the built-in tool.

Go to the menu bar and select Help -> Submit an Issue.... This will open a dialog that allows you to describe the problem and automatically includes important diagnostic information. Alternatively, you can create one directly on our Issues Page.
