Experiment Issue PhaseSpace Not Responding to "Start Experiment" - Carleton-SRCL/SPOT GitHub Wiki

The PhaseSpace computer and cables can be finicky. Check that all cables are connected and that the computer is on. Note that there are two boxes associated with the PhaseSpace system, both are found underneath the granite slab closest to the lab coats: The first box is the main PhaseSpace computer and it is nearer to the lab computer and has a power button backlit with blue LEDs when powered. The secondary box is further along the granite slab and is usually the computer that causes problems. Follow the cables if you can't find the boxes.

  1. Make sure that the secondary box is powered (you should see a couple green LEDs on the face of the box). This power cord is finicky and will jostle out if someone bumps the box. If not powered, you will have to wiggle the power cable until it is powered.
  2. Try power cycling the main box: Press and hold the main power button until the blue light goes out. Give it a minute before powering on.
  3. After attempting the above two steps, go into MasterClient and try to Connect to the PhaseSpace system.

Try repeating the above steps until the cameras respond. This can take a few tries, there is no logic behind it.

Note that sometimes it takes >15 minutes before the system is properly rebooted after a power cycle.
