End of Day Procedures - Carleton-SRCL/SPOT GitHub Wiki
At the end of the day, there are a number of procedures to follow to keep the laboratory in a clean and organized state, and to be courteous to the next person in the laboratory.
Packing up the Table
[!IMPORTANT] The table barriers must be lowered before the table cover can be placed back onto the table. Place the bolt and nuts back where you found them in the "Table" drawer so that the next researcher can easily locate them.
The table cover must be placed back onto the table to prevent dust build-up and damage. You do not need to wipe down the table using isopropyl alcohol, simply place the folded table cover in the center of the table as shown in the images below (or as shown in the video guide - https://youtu.be/SlMJ5HH1QAo):
Unfold one end of the table mat:
Then the other end:
Then, simply adjust the corners.
Charging the Platforms
Demonstration video available here: https://youtu.be/wDpUcpgEBgA
All three platforms can be charged at the same time. To charge a platform:
-
Ensure that the platform is turned OFF.
-
Plug in the platform charger to the timed wall adapter (usually, the chargers are already plugged in, so this step can be skipped).
- Next, ENSURE THAT YOU UNPLUG THE XAVIER AND THE TX2 (OR ORIN) FROM THE BATTERY. To do so, unplug the barrel jack connector to each computer.
[!CAUTION] Skipping this step can break the onboard computers.
- At this point, it is safe to plug in the charging cable to the platform, in this case the RED platform. The charging port is through the power panel of each platform.
- Press the button on the side of the timed wall adapter to turn on the power to the charger. Now, you should see that the charging brick LED turns red, meaning that the platform is charging. If the light didn't turn red, then push the charging cable more firmly into the platform power panel.
- Once a platform is fully charged, this LED will turn green. The wall adapter will shut off the next day at 5AM, so there is little risk of causing damage by leaving the platform connected overnight.
Packing up Cleaning Supplies
[!IMPORTANT] It is imperative that the isopropyl alcohol be stored in the yellow "hazard" box that it was removed from during set up. If the laboratory is caught with chemicals outside of safe storage unattended, a significant fine can occur.
