The Provençal Tribunal, a vast expanse encompassing all the Covenants in the South of France, stands as a formidable bastion of order and organization. Here, little room remains for hedge traditions and other obscure perils that occasionally threatened the Order.
However, the Tribunal's peripheral code, unlike the Peripheral Code, governing many other regions under the Order's influence, bore a distinctive character of unruliness. This chaos stems from the deeply ingrained practice of inter-Covenant favors and exchanges, rendering some rules practically unenforceable. After all, what purpose did a decree serve when everyone indebted to you for a favor would willingly sway the tide in your favor, no matter the circumstances?
As a result, the chief Quaesitor has a Herculean task at hand during Tribunal sessions, one that demanded all their wit and determination, as they sought to maintain decorum and ward off the encroachment of corruption, lest the delicate equilibrium of the Provençal Tribunal be disrupted.
The Main Covenants of the tribunal are :
- The Ark, a covenant set on an enchanted ship that travels around the méditerranean sea and is administratively attached to the tribunal.
- Aedes Mercurii, one of the oldest and biggest covenant of the tribunal that claims to be the heir of Flambeau's Will and is the Center of the Neo Mercurian Cult.
- Bellaquin, A summer covenant run by Jerbiton mages with great connections to the nobility auround Toulouse and Carcassone.
- Castra Solis, Domus Magnus of House Flambeau claiming, like Aedes Mercurii, to be the true heir of Flambeau's Will. They are the center of the cult of Mithra and spend more time helping the Iberian Tribunal during their Reconquista than in internal politics...
- Portus Coda, a port set in a small creek next to Marseille serve as Mercere Depot for the Tribunal.
- Portus Termini, set in a canyon in the montains, it is dedicated to the study of Hermetic Theory and its limits.
- Salies, Small covenant set in a swamp with a very high aura and some rare magic properties. It is almost only inhabited by Bjornaer mages.
- Val Negra, this covenant, initially created by Flambeau Himself, was his House's Domus Magnus until most mages left for Castra Solis. It was lost and forgotten for almost a century and was later rediscovered by some mages a few years ago.
