Size is reduced by 2, to -6, with corresponding increase of Quickness by 2, and reduction in Strength by 4. Wise Owl uses this to be less threatening. Converse with Plant and Tree (5 MP), Init Qik-10: R: Touch, D: Conc, T: Ind You can speak with a plant for one conversation. The level of conversation depends on the type of plants; longer-lived and more noble plants have more to say. A single question and response takes ten to thirty minutes, with slower-growing plants speaking more slowly. Typically, plants can talk about the soil and about other plants around them, but have limited awareness of more momentary events, such as the passing of animals or people, unless that passing has a direct bearing on the plant (for example, a person cut its trunk). News can spread quickly through a forest when it has to, called from tree to tree on the wind. Bystanders cannot understand your conversation. Courage of the Owl (5 MP), Init Qik-10: R: Sight, D: Sun, T: Ind Instill a person with indomitable courage, increasing his Brave Personality Trait by +3. This may, but does not always, lead to acts of recklessness. CrMe 25 (Base 4, +3 Sight, +2 Sun): Lesser Power (25 levels)
Grant Clear Thinker (5 MP), Init Qik-10: R: Touch, D: Mom, T: Ind, Ritual Imposes the Clear Thinker Minor Virtue upon a target. The owl can decide to bestow the Virtue permanently or temporarily. If permanent, the power is a ritual-like power and costs points from the creature’s Might score as well as Might pool (see Ritual Power, above). If temporary, the Might points spent on this power are only recovered when its effects are withdrawn. Might Score is recovered at a rate of 1 point per season spent in a magic aura, 2 if that magic aura is in the woods. No Hermetic equivalent: Ritual Power
Immobilize Prey (0 MP), Init Qik-2: R: Eye, D: Conc, T: Ind Any creature that makes eye contact with the Owl is unable to move and may only make small whining or moaning sounds. Music of Unwanted Attention (1 MP), Init Qik-3 R: Per, D: Diam, T: Hearing The owl is able to sense anyone who is aware of her for the duration of the power. A person’s attention, regardless how fleeting, is heard as a musical chime, and each individual is represented by a different tone. She doesn’t detect any information about them other than they are aware of her existence. The information gained from this spell is only applicable to those who have an active interest in the caster’s presence. Sight of the Transparent Motive (0 MP), Init Qik-1: R: Eye, D: Mom, T: Ind Detects the general motive most powerfully influencing the target at the moment. General motives are such things as fear, anger, and greed, not specific things like the desire to look good before one’s superiors. To See as the other birds see (4 MP), Init Qik-4 R: Sight, D: Conc, T: Group The wise owl mostly uses this power on a group of birds to recon the forest, hence the name, however it may be used on any animal group. This power allows the owl to read the thoughts of an animal, and give it directions. The owl may indirectly sense the animals’s location, using the group as a spy. The owl’s perceptions are filtered through the minds of the animals, so they focus on those stimuli that the animal finds most vivid. Dogs find smell vivid, so the owl’s perceptions, when using a dog, will focus on odiferous substances. If reading the mind of a magpie, the owl will find that they fixate on reflective surfaces.
