WatchmakerSuite is a project to produce reference implementations of Richard Dawkins' [Blind Watchmaker]] programs in modern computer languages, starting with [Java.

Goals of the WatchmakerSuite include:

• Functionality: all the features of the original Blind Watchmaker program are implemented.
• Feel: using WatchmakerSuite should "feel like" using the original Blind Watchmaker programs. It should be easy to switch back and forth between using [Blind Watchmaker]] on a [[classic Macintosh]] or under [emulation, and a particular WatchmakerSuite, with ease, so that the two programs can be demonstrated together.
• Flexibility: WatchmakerSuite is designed to be extensible, so that new program features and new kinds of biomorph can easily be developed.
• Freedom: WatchmakerSuite is free, open-source software. The portions of the application which implement the logic specific to Dawkins' original four biomorph species are licensed under the Lesser GNU Public License, version 3, so that this logic can be embedded in proprietary software. The remainder of the application is licensed under the full GNU Public License, version 3.
