A glow mushroom is a fungus that grows and spreads in dark areas. Glow mushrooms generate small or huge in size. They also spread glowing particles.
Glow mushrooms can be instantly mined with anything. Mining a huge glow mushroom block drops up to two mushrooms of the same color. Fortune does not affect the drop rate of mushrooms in any form.
A glow mushroom also breaks instantly and drops as an item if:
- the block below it is moved or destroyed
- A fluid flows over it;
- The glow mushroom is not on podzol, mycelium, or nylium, the light level is 13 or higher, and a block updates next to it.
Glow mushrooms naturally generate in glow shroom caves in the form of small patches on top of mycelium.
Shearing a glow mooshroom drops 5 glow mushrooms and turns the glow mooshroom into a normal cow.
Glow mushrooms can be planted and grown on blocks in light levels below 13 and not directly underneath the sky. If planted on mycelium, podzol or nylium, they can stay planted in any light level, including be planted and remain under light from sky above.
When bone meal is applied to a glow mushroom, the mushroom has a chance to grow into a huge glow mushroom, provided that it is on a proper block (grass block, dirt, coarse dirt, rooted dirt or moss block at a light level of 12 or below; on podzol, mycelium or nylium at any light level) and has enough space (7x7x9).
When receiving a random tick, a glow mushroom has a chance of spreading to a nearby block (including even above and below diagonally) if there are fewer than five mushrooms of the same type in a 9×9×3 volume around the original mushroom.
Glow mushrooms emit a light level of 6.
Glow mushrooms can be planted in a flower pot.

Placing a glow mushroom into a composter has a 65% chance of raising the compost level by 1.
- Glow Mushrooms almost had a bouncy property similar to slime blocks. Later in development we noticed how difficult it became to navigate the glow shroom caves. It also felt very not vanilla.
