Schedule a Video Conference - AK-NSF-EPSCoR/Vis-Space GitHub Wiki

Third-party solutions:

  • Apart from OIT video-conferencing described below, we also support a number of third-party applications which include:
    • Zoom
    • Google Hangouts + Google Meet
    • Skype
    • GoTo Meeting
  • If you have an account with any of the above services or any other service that operates entirely in a modern web browser, you can use that service in Vis Space.
Currently, we recommend using Google Meet

For scheduling a video conference through the University's system wide video conferencing network please contact OIT:

  1. To file a formal request with OIT, please go to: The Communication & Collaboration page
  2. You will need to know the location you would like to connect to.
  3. If you would like the conference streamed or recorded, let OIT know during your initial request.
  4. Video conference requests should be made 48 hours in advance to allow for appropriate configuration time.
  5. If your conference is scheduled for a time outside of standard business hours, or involves a request for an extended or rural University of Alaska campus, K-12 School Access site, or a site outside the state please allow 7 days in advance for preparation.

For setting up audio conference only:

  1. The Audio System is connected to a phone line which is controlled through the touch panel and via the iPad
  2. Calls can be made from either interface by opening the "Phone" menu and adding "9" as a prefix to any number outside the university
  3. To receive calls, the system's number is (907) 474-1102

For an audio conference Back-up

  1. The room is also equipped with a Cisco teleconference unit. To use it on its own, you do not need to schedule with OIT.
  2. Use the "9" prefix to dial outside of the university
  3. The unit's number is (907) 474-6459
  4. If you would like to use this unit in addition to your video conference, give the number to OIT during your video conference request
