Magic

Magic follows the conservation of mass and energy. It can convert energy to mass and mass to energy, but it takes a lot of magical energy to do so. Besides conversion, one way it can "create" matter or energy is to bring it in from somewhere else in the world. Magic cannot manipulate time. It is fundamentally impossible to alter the past or predict the future with absolute certainty. Time remains unaffected by magic.
