Lizhéri Vërinwokh was named after the Uvüm goddess Lizhéri, a rare and controversial choice in Uvüm culture. Naming a child after a deity is widely considered taboo, seen by many as disrespectful, arrogant, or blasphemous. However, her mother, Emovri, believed that the name would offer divine protection and guidance, especially if her daughter grew into someone worthy of it. Emovri held the belief that the gods favored those named after them, provided they proved themselves.

This belief placed an unspoken burden on Lizhéri, who struggled under the weight of her name. At one point in her life, she chose to distance herself from it entirely, adopting the name Líkhè. This decision was also influenced by her brief time identifying as neither male nor female, a very rare and culturally unsupported identity. This decision deeply hurt her mother, who viewed the name change as a rejection not only of her daughter’s divine namesake but of the faith and hope Emovri had invested in her. Though Lizhéri eventually reclaimed her original name, the emotional distance it caused took a very long time to heal.
