MCP Guide — Launch Work with AI

Use AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor to create and manage real work on your platform using simple prompts.

No dashboards. No manual forms. Just tell the AI what you want to launch.

What MCP Does

MCP (Model Context Protocol) connects your platform directly to AI.

This lets AI:

  • Create gigs
  • Launch bounties
  • Publish quests
  • Start Indy Builder Projects
  • Draft and coordinate SIPs (Stacks Improvement Proposals)

Think of it as turning AI into a work engine, not just a chat tool.

1. One-Time Setup

Start the MCP server

pnpm start:mcp

Check it’s running

curl http://localhost:3100/health

Add your API key

Create one in: Dashboard → API Keys

Connect your AI tool

Add this config:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "platform": {
      "url": "http://localhost:3100/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}
  • Use with Claude or ChatGPT (MCP-enabled environments)
  • Or add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for Cursor

Restart your tool after adding.

2. How It Works

You write a prompt → AI calls MCP tools → work gets created.

Behind the scenes, the AI:

  • Prepares contract data
  • Submits transactions (if connected)
  • Syncs results back to your platform

You just see the outcome.

3. Launch Work with Prompts

Create a Gig

Create a gig for a frontend developer to build a Web3 landing page.

Budget: 500 STX
Deadline: 7 days
Network: Stacks

Create a Bounty

Create a bounty for auditing a smart contract.

Reward: 1000 STX
Focus: security and vulnerabilities
Network: Stacks

Create a Quest

Create a quest to onboard new users.

Steps:
1. Create a wallet
2. Mint an NFT
3. Share on social

Reward: XP + tokens

Start an Indy Builder Project

Create an Indy Builder Project for a solo dev building an AI crypto dashboard.

Milestones:
- MVP
- Wallet integration
- Analytics

Funding: milestone-based
Network: Stacks

4. Launch a SIP (Stacks Improvement Proposal)

You can also create governance proposals directly with AI.

Use this for:

  • Protocol upgrades
  • Standards
  • Ecosystem improvements

Create a SIP

Create a Stacks Improvement Proposal (SIP) for improving smart contract debugging.

Include:
- Title
- Abstract
- Motivation
- Specification
- Backwards Compatibility
- Security Considerations

SIP + Bounty

Create a SIP for a new on-chain reputation system.

Then create a bounty to build a reference implementation.

Reward: 2000 STX
Network: Stacks

SIP + Indy Builder Project

Create a SIP for decentralized identity on Stacks.

Then create an Indy Builder Project to build the MVP with milestones and funding.

5. Discover Work with AI

You can also explore what already exists.

Find bounties

List open bounties on Stacks

Find gigs

Show latest developer gigs

Find quests

What active quests are available?

6. What’s Happening Behind the Scenes

The AI uses MCP tools like:

  • list_bounties, list_gigs, list_quests
  • prepare_create_bounty, prepare_create_gig
  • sync_* tools after transactions

This connects: prompt → contract → platform → users

7. Why This Matters

This removes friction from building and coordination.

  • No forms
  • No switching tools
  • Faster execution
  • Works for humans + AI agents

You go from idea → live work instantly.

8. Simple Mental Model

Before: Click → fill forms → submit → manage

Now: Prompt → AI executes → done

9. Troubleshooting

  • Server not running → pnpm start:mcp

  • No response → check API key

  • Connection issues → use:

    http://127.0.0.1:3100/mcp

  • Restart your AI tool if needed

Final Take

ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor become interfaces for launching real work:

  • Gigs
  • Bounties
  • Quests
  • Indy Builder Projects
  • SIPs

All powered by simple prompts.

If you want next step, I can turn this into:

  • a landing page
  • a docs site
  • or a social thread series explaining MCP step-by-step
