Include system contact groups
Check this option if you want Google's system contact groups (currently: "all", "blocked", "chatBuddies", "coworkers", "family", "friends", "myContacts", "starred") to be included in the synchronization.
Please keep in mind that those contact groups:
- are deprecated by Google itself, and will therefore be removed in a (near?) future;
- are read-only (no modifications are allowed when doing a Thunderbird-to-Google synchronization).
Use fake email addresses
By default, an email-less contact in Thunderbird cannot be added to a mailing-list.
In case you want to keep the original structure of your contact groups when doing a Google-to-Thunderbird synchronization, just enable this option and the corresponding Email field in Thunderbird will be populated with a fake email address (@bug1522453.thunderbird.example.com), thus allowing the contact to be added to mailing-lists.
The fake email address will be discarded when doing the opposite (Thunderbird-to-Google) synchronization.
Read-only mode
This add-on ships with the ability to also do a basic Thunderbird-to-Google synchronization. However, you'd better stick to the read-only mode instead (i.e.: Google-to-Thunderbird synchronization only), and that's for a couple of reasons:
- the software is under heavy development and may still have bugs;
- the Google address book structure is different than the one in Thunderbird, and using a bi-directional synchronization may lead to some data being lost or scrambled.
You'd better do the full contact management on Google (via contacts.google.com, or via your smartphone) and then run a Google-to-Thunderbird read-only synchronization to update your local Thunderbird address book.
Verbose logging
You can enable this option to have a full "debug mode". This will slow the execution, but you will be able to better determine where problems lie.
