Skills

Start equal to the base attribute

Difficulty Level

  • 1 Easy (anyone after short time)
  • 2 Average (most combat skills)
  • 3 Hard (require intense formal study)
  • 4 Very Hard (prodigious or alien)

Technological Skills

  • You must learn the skill at a specific TL
  • Must be <= your TL
  • Can learn higher TL if non-IQ based with teacher in play

Penalty for different TL equipment

For IQ based skills using equipment of different TL see p168

For non IQ based, -1 per TL

Specialties

You may select many specialties

Familiarity of equipment

  • Unfamiliar equipment gives -2
  • After 8 hours with equipment it becomes familiar
  • GM may roll against skill to check if new equipment is familiar
  • TL and unfamiliarity add up. TL can't be removed
  • Select 2 familiarities for each point in skill

Point cost

  • Base: Attribute - Difficulty See table p170 for increment

Relative Skill

You can use the relative skill level for rolling the skill with another attribute

Skill Defaults

  • Penalty = -(3 + Difficulty)
  • Need to know about the skill to have a default
  • No double defaults
  • Improving from defaults only uses the difference in points see p173
