FAQ

Is my data sent anywhere?

No, not by default. The database is an encrypted file on your computer. The few things that can reach the internet are listed in Privacy in plain words and each one only happens when you ask for it.

What happens if I forget my passphrase?

Use the twelve recovery words shown at first launch. If you have lost both, nobody can open your data, including us. That is the price of nobody else being able to read it.

Can I use it on my phone?

Not yet. See the Roadmap for the options we are weighing.

Can I sync it between my computers?

You can copy a backup across, and you can point backups at a folder your cloud drive syncs. A proper sync mode is on the Roadmap.

Does it connect to my bank?

No, on purpose. You download a statement from your bank and import it. That keeps your bank login out of the picture entirely.

Which countries does it support?

Currency, number and date formats, tax rules and the wording banks put on statements live in small files per country. The United States and Spain are included. Add your country shows how to add yours.

Is the assistant required?

No. It is off until you turn it on, and it can run on a model on your own computer so that nothing leaves it.

Is this financial advice?

No. It does arithmetic on the numbers and assumptions you enter. Returns, inflation, tax and spending will differ from any projection.

Why does Windows/macOS warn me when I open it?

The installers are not signed with a paid developer certificate yet. The guide in the repository explains how to check the download before you run it.

How do I report a bug?

Open an issue. Please do not paste real bank statements or balances; a description or a made-up example is plenty.
