[guide] installing bodyslide with wrye bash - wrye-bash/wrye-bash GitHub Wiki

Wrye Bash 307 BodySlide Installation

Wrye Bash 307 and greater has the ability to manage BodySlide and Outfit Studio like any other mod package, allowing you to install and uninstall BodySlide data with the same level of control you have come to expect with Wrye Bash.

The example screenshots in this document show Wrye Bash for Skyrim Legendary Edition, but the process is similar, if not identical for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition.

Installing BodySlide and Outfit Studio

  1. To begin installation, download Bodyslide from the Nexus and place it in your Bash Installers folder for the game you will be installing it for.

  2. Launch Wrye Bash for the target game and select your Installers tab.

  3. Locate the BodySlide BAIN package and move it into your preferred install position. It is recommended that you place it under it's own marker so you can locate it and other BodySlide-related packages in your mod list more easily.

  4. Select the package and review the information in the package details panel. In this example the 00 Bodyslide package that contains the main Bodyslide files, 02 UUNP for the Universal UNP Bodyslide shape data, and Physics UUNP to install the SKSE plugins necessary for physics support have been selected. This will vary slightly for FO4 and SSE of course due to differences in package contents.

Package Details Panel

  1. Review the Skips tab in the package info panel. Notice the executble files have been skipped: as a measure of security, Wrye Bash does not install executable files. Therefore the two .exe files will need to be installed manually.

Package skip info

  1. After you have verified everything is ready to install, right click the package, select "Install" and wait for the installation to complete.

BS Installing

  1. Once the installer completes, you will now need to install the executable files that are skipped. Right-click the BodySlide package and select "Open" (or double-click) to open it in your compressed archive manager. This example uses 7Zip, but the process is similar in WinRAR and other utilities.

open BS package

  1. Once the archive opens in your manager, find the 00 Bodyslide folder, drill down from that folder to the Bodyslide folder, and open it.

drill down into the package

  1. Once you find the Bodyslide.exe files listed above, you're in the right spot. Leave your archive manager running and Alt+Tab back to your Windows desktop.
  2. Use Windows Explorer file manager to open your game folder and navigate to the Data folder. You will need to drill down from there to find where BodySlide lives.

Skyrim Data Folder

  • In Skyrim LE and SSE, this will be in Data\CalienteTools\BodySlide\
  • In Fallout 4, this will be in Data\Tools\BodySlide
  1. Once you arrive at your BodySlide folder, it should look similar to the above with no exe files present. Leave the window open and Alt-Tab back to your archive manager.
  2. Drag and drop the BodySlide executables into the BodySlide folder.

Drag and drop

  1. Once the files copy in from the archive, your BodySlide installation is complete.

Drag and drop result

  1. You can now run BodySlide to complete the initial game selection setup. Double-click either the 64-bit executable (BodySlide x64.exe) or the regular 32-bit executable and select the game you are installing for.

select your game

  1. BodySlide should now run as usual.

BodySlide Running

Congratulations, you now have a working installation of BodySlide / Outfit Studio!

Pro-Tip: You can create a shortcut to BodySlide x64.exe (or bodyslide.exe) and drag it into the mopy\apps directory to create a shortcut which will allow you to start BodySlide from within Wrye Bash. The icon will appear on the bottom bar with all of the other utility icons.

NOTE: after your first run of BodySlide, Wrye Bash will detect the changes in the BodySlide settings and log files. This is completely normal since technically the stock file has been overwritten by your custom settings. You can disegard the yellow square icon as long as the entire name of the package does not have a yellow highlight.

BONUS - Adding mods containing Bodyslide Data

Wrye Bash also supports mods that include BodySlide data such as armor and custom shape mods. These are managed as part of the mod just like any other package. No manual copying is needed for mods that include regular BodySlide shape and slider data.

Keeping your BodySlide executables safe: another way to manage your BodySlide installation

Since Wrye Bash does not manage the BodySlide executable files, this work-around will prevent them from being deleted during a "Clean Data" operation.

  1. Create a folder anywhere on your computer to store the .EXE files from BodySlide. This can be anywhere on your machine, but in this example we will create it under the Skyrim Special Edition folder named BodyslideEXE.

  1. Open the BodySlide archive and drill down to where the BodySlide exe files are located.

  2. Drag and drop the executable files into the new BodySlideEXE folder.

Drag and drop

  1. In another Explorer window, navigate to your game's Data folder, then into the BodySlide home folder, then right click in the path bar and select "Copy as text". This will copy the path to the main BodySlide folder.

  2. While keeping your BodySlideEXE folder open in one windows, open another Explorer window and navigate the Apps folder under your Wrye Bash home folder. Normally this is named Mopy\Apps.

  3. Create a shortcut from the BodySlide.exe or BodySlide x64.exe in the BodySlideEXE folder to your Mopy\Apps folder.

  4. Right click the new shortcut and select Properties.

  5. Clear the "Start in" properties box, and add the path from step 4 into the box. This instructs the shortcut to run the program from the BodySlide folder.

  6. Click OK to save the shortcut changes.

  7. Now BodySlide will be available as an icon at the bottom of your Wrye Bash window. You can either run the program from Mopy\Apps or from the app shortcut icon inside Wrye Bash.
