Thru Movement - woven-planet/opensafety-mbse GitHub Wiki

A permitted path from the Entrance Lane directly across the Intersection without turning is a Thru Movement. During such a Movement it is assumed that the Exit Crosswalks will be closed (signaling pedestrians to wait). Furthermore, the traffic in this Movement has priority and furthermore does not expect any legal intrusions into the path of traffic.

Ordinarily, the thru destination is the only obvious non-turn. But things can get tricky if there is a slight V shape opposite the Intersection leading to two apparently straight Road Segments. Consider the following example:

The Movement from RS1 to RS2 is classified as a Thru Movement even though it looks like it might be an outside turn. We assume that a classification will be made outside of the Vehicle Guidance domain taking into account map information or, failing that, the minimum the angle of the turn, the distance between Entrance and Exit Conduit Interfaces and the ordering away from the nearest acute turn.
