Annex1) Migration of content to github

· Objects management and Workflow

Enrico has confirmed that informal discussions on things, and development, and draft release of new versions of things… should occur on github, and then the final "formal content" will be posted to wis.wmo.int

The key issue being addressed, by this approach, is better version-control and tracking. And therefore better governance of these objects.

Hermann noted that AVXM/IWXXM seem to have a well-defined workflow that we could also consider adopting.

Action: Hermann to contact Mark Hedley for details of that workflow (described at the IPET-DD in Feb 2019).

Action: This team, at next meeting, to review that workflow, and decide whether any changes/additions are needed.

· Codelist management

WMCP v1.3 is available from http://wis.wmo.int/2013/metadata/version_1-3-0/WMO_Core_Metadata_Profile_v1.3_Part_1.pdf and http://wis.wmo.int/2013/metadata/version_1-3-0/WMO_Core_Metadata_Profile_v1.3_Part_2.pdf

WMCP v1.3, Part 2 pg 15+ lists the original codelists and terms.

Since then, some changes have been made to those codelists ((definitions modified, additional terms added).

The most recent, and therefore the authoritative version of the WMCP v1.3 codelist is currently only formally available as xml, from http://wis.wmo.int/2012/codelists/WMOCodeLists.xml *) (*earlier xml versions, for WMCP v1.3, are available from http://wis.wmo.int/2012/codelists/ )

In order to provide a current human-readable version of the most recent version of the codelists, Guillaume has experimented with creating a csv file of one of the WMCP codelists.

This approach is the same as ISO's approach for 19115-3, where they present both the xml and html.

https://standards.iso.org/iso/19115/resources/Codelists/cat/codelists.html

https://standards.iso.org/iso/19115/resources/Codelists/cat/codelists.xml

Action: Manuel / Marta to do the same for the rest of the codelists.

  1. WMCP migration to ISO19115-3

Kate noted that she has been focussing on the Quality/KPI's, and will progress this before the next meeting. Anna will also try to contribute to this activity. ISO 19115-3 namespaces are summarised here: https://standards.iso.org/iso/19115/resources/namespaceSummary.html

  1. Definition of metadata quality KPIs

The group discussed some of the quality KPIs. It was noted again (as mentioned by Enrico at the previous meeting) that some WMCP quality aspirations cannot be checked through automated process.
Action : Guillaume to circulate summary.
