Taxonomy Page

The Taxonomy page provides the main interface of the EukMap platform to interact with/inspect the taxonomy: It provides an interactive tree to browse different versions of the taxonomy and a sidebar showing details about the active (selected) taxon.

Visibility

This page is public and can viewed by any visitor of the EukMap website.

Additionally, logged in users can inspect the current Candidate taxonomy, a preview of the next release, and propose changes if the logged in user has Contributor privileges.

Dropdown box allowing to switch between releases of the taxonomy, the current Candidate taxonomy and Proposal.

Visitors of the EukMap website, will only be able to switch between releases of the taxonomy but do not have access to the Candidate taxonomy and Proposals. Logged in users are required to have any of the of the Contributor, Reviewer, or Taxonomic Coordinator roles to access proposal. Additionally, users must either be the owner of a Proposal, be invited to contribute to a Proposal or have the Reviewer role to access proposed proposals.

Header (and toolbar) of the taxon sidepanel. It shows the (abbreviated) name of the selected and allows to close the sidepanel (button on the left) or to switch the Details (button to the right).
CL
The most recent Change Log entry affecting the selected taxon. When a release taxonomy is shown, this is the latest published change affecting the taxon. All other changes affecting the taxon are shown on the History tab of the taxon sidepanel (T).

Tr.1

A leaf node (taxon) in the taxonomy that does not have children. Leaf taxa are indicated by an orange circle with white fill. Additionally, the name of the taxon is displayed to the right of the circle.

A taxon may be active and or selected. The active taxon is highlighted by a blue overlay covering the the circle. For the selected taxa, the taxon's name is coloured in blue and, additionally, the name is underlined.

Tr.2
A group node (taxon) in the taxonomy that contains other taxa. Group taxa are indicated by an orange circle with orange fill. Additionally, the name of the taxon is displayed to the left of the circle.

Button to create a new _Proposal_ from the current _Candidate_ taxonomy.

This toolbar is only available if the user has selected the Candidate taxonomy and the user has the any of the Contributor, Reviewer, or Taxonomic Coordinator roles.

CL
The most recent Change Log entry affecting the selected taxon. When the Candidate taxonomy is shown, this is the latest accepted change affecting the taxon in the Candidate taxonomy. All other changes affecting the taxon are shown on the History tab of the taxon sidepanel (T).
Tr

Tr.3
A taxon that is not locked by any proposal. Locking the taxon by creating a proposal, will allow to propose changes affecting the taxon and any of its children.
Tr.4
A taxon that is locked by a proposal other than the currently selected version of the taxonomy. The taxon and any of its children can only be changed, if the logged in user has access to the proposal and that proposal is selected.

Taxonomic toolbar providing access to the taxonomic operations: create, rename, move, replace, and delete. The update operation can be accessed via the Details page (B.5).

This toolbar is only available if the user has selected an open proposal and the active (selected) taxon is part of the proposal (`Tr.6`). If the active (selected) taxon is not part of the selected proposal (`Tr.5`), then the toolbar is not available.

This button is only available if the user has selected an open proposal and the user has permission to propose changes within this proposal.

Tr.5
A taxon that is not part of the selected proposal. This taxon and any of its children cannot be changed as part of the selected proposal.
Tr.6
A taxon, that is part of the selected proposal. Changes affecting the taxon and any of its children may be proposed.

Screenshots

NOTE:
Opening the SVG will not show the embedded screenshot of the Taxonomy page. It shows the annotations, only. After downloading the SVG, both the annotations and the embedded screenshot screenshot will be shown. This seems to be a limitation of GitHub when accessing (showing) the SVG directly.
