Taxon
Taxon Identifier
Each taxon is assigned a numerical identifier when the taxon is created. This identifier is considered as the taxon's unique identifier, which does not change even when the taxon is moved or renamed.
The identifier may be used to reference the taxon in the taxonomy, for example by including the identifier in a URL selecting the taxon when entering the taxonomy browser or taxon details page:
When using the identifier outside of the context of the UniEuk Website, other
websites, articles, the identifier should be prefixed by UniEuk#, for example
UniEuk#1 to reference the root node of the taxonomy: Life.
The taxon identifier cannot be changed by the user and once associated to a taxon, the identifier will always be associated to that taxon. Deleting a taxon, will remove the identifier from active use, but the identifier will never be assoicated with another taxon.
