Logo Lore - widberg/fmtk GitHub Wiki
An eagle-eyed reader will have noticed that the FMTK icon is identical to the FUEL icon except that the red and blue color channels are swapped. This is in reference to the fact that when viewing icons embedded in the .rsrc
section of an executable using Ghidra, they can sometimes be displayed with the red and blue channels swapped. This (seemingly abandoned) open issue from 2019 is being tracked under the issues tab on the Ghidra GitHub repository (Icons in .rsrc are in wrong color #436). While initially a bug in Ghidra, this icon captures the iconic original icon while simultaneously nodding at a fun bit of trivia involving one of the most influential tools in FMTK development. I knew immediately when I saw it in Ghidra that I wanted to use the icon for FMTK's logo. Below is a screenshot of how the icon appears in Ghidra.
Also included in the screenshot is the icon for Ratatouille which is similarly blue and chosen as the icon for RatataR, which is a custom launcher for the PC version of Ratatouille. It has been speculated that the Ratatouille icon is present in the FUEL executable because it may have been a default icon for games created with that generation of the engine. This seems likely considering that an early Asobo Studio game, The Mummy: The Animated Series, contained an icon of Pouni, a character in the canceled Totem game that is the engine's namesake, which was the default icon at the time. Presumably, Asobo would have changed this default icon to the Ratatouille icon at some point during the development of that game and it found its way into the FUEL executable.
