Second Wind mod has four factions and seven classes.

  • The first faction consists of Rangers, Nomads and Survivalists, representing the "heroes", and "friendlies".

  • The second faction includes an anarchic alliance by Outlaws and Scavengers.

  • The third faction is Hunters, psychopaths, former military, and simply cold-blooded "the lawless murderers" of this world.

  • The fourth faction is represented by the Undead, the undead are indeed a separate class that you can play as, with their unique abilities and opportunities.

The progression for each class based on levels is as follows:

  • To reach the second level, you need 1500+ points.
  • To reach the third level, you need 5000+ points.
  • To reach the fourth level, you need 10000+ points.

Important: If someone has prior experience with the Breaking Point mod, they are likely familiar with the vulnerabilities of the faction system, which allowed players to collaborate between hostile classes and deceive other players using various methods.

What about now?

Second Wind mod has already fixed this vulnerabilities and this lessons have been learned. For cooperative play in mixed groups, players will be penalized significantly for all interactions with each other when they are opposite classes. This includes anything from simple sharing of items and medical assistance to penalties for riding in vehicles together. The penalties are not insignificant, so it's advisable to think carefully before starting to play in a mixed group.

Yes, the penalties are fully justified for such gameplay because it disrupts the atmosphere and significance of the class system.

Factions

The Coalition

The Coalition includes classes such as:

  • Ranger
  • Nomad
  • Survivalist

🠖 Ranger

The Rangers - a unique representation of law and order in this lawless apocalypse world, ready to help those in need and punish criminals. It's all about valor and honor. The Rangers have an exclusive armor perk and also start with decent medical equipment. On the 3rd and 4th levels, they even acquire a medical belt, which is quite effective and can replace a substantial amount of medical supplies. They spawn with different pistols.

In terms of gameplay: the Ranger class can be considered the "tank/fighter" of their faction. This class is more suited for an active combat style, but players need to be attentive to their targets. Accidentally killing a teammate can result in a significant progression penalty and label you as a traitor. Recommended to know the appearance of your allies and your class, from a traitor to the fourth level.

Progression

  • Provide various types of assistance to allies, such as providing food and offering medical aid, perform operations.
  • Kill enemy classes and traitors, as this is a primary source of earning points.
  • Capture Region points and holding them.
  • Destroy enemy class stashes and vehicles.
  • Kill enemy dogs.
  • Kill zombies and clear areas.

Regression

  • Providing assistance to any hostile class. (Traitors from your own or allied class are not considered enemies when it comes to providing assistance.)
  • Any interaction or cooperation with enemy classes, including traveling in the same vehicle with them.
  • Injured Rangers or allied classes.
  • Killing other Rangers or allied classes.
  • Destroying stashes belonging to other Rangers or allied classes.
  • Shooting at dogs, whether they belong to you, other Rangers, or allied classes.
  • Tie or tranquilizing other Rangers or allied classes especially allowing them to die in this state.

🠖 Nomad

The Nomads - wanderers, travelers, and are well-prepared for their lifestyle. They don't like staying in one place for too long, they are constantly on the move and exploring. This is the only class that starts with own dog right from the spawn, which is very useful and becomes even more so as the character levels up. The higher the character's level, the more experienced their four-legged companion becomes. They also have some survival supplies and a hunting rifles at spawn. On the 3rd and 4th levels Nomads have a custom Nomad Allice Pack with impressive carrying capacity. The Nomad class is the only one with an ability that includes a higher speed of healing during rest, which increases with each level. At levels 3 and 4 Nomads have a passive healing perk with really good ratio, that works without the need for resting.

In terms of gameplay: this class offers a good balance between combat capabilities and exploration, complemented by their trusty dog. They are effective at self-healing and come equipped with one of the best spawn backpacks. However, players should exercise caution and protect their dog during battles, as losing the dog can result in losing a certain number of points.

Progression

  • Provide various types of assistance to allies, such as providing food and offering medical aid, perform operation.
  • Care for and feed your dog. (Small but always relevant and accessible action for progression)
  • Kill enemy classes and traitors.
  • Capture Region points and holding them.
  • Destroy stashes of enemy classes and their vehicles.
  • Kill enemy dogs.
  • Hunt and gut animals.
  • Kill zombies and clear areas.

Regression

  • Providing assistance to any hostile class. (Traitors from your own or allied class are not considered enemies when it comes to providing assistance.)
  • Any interaction or cooperation with enemy classes, including traveling in the same vehicle with them.
  • Injure Nomads or allied classes.
  • Killing other Nomads or allied classes.
  • Destroying stashes belonging to other Nomads or allied classes.
  • Shooting at dogs, whether they belong to you, other Nomads, or allied classes.
  • Killing your own dog.
  • Allowing your dog to die.
  • Tie or tranquilizing other Nomads or allied classes especially allowing them to die in this state.

🠖 Survivalist

The Survivalists - ghosts, inhabitants of the wilderness and pacifists but if necessary they can defend themselves. Don't assume they pose no threat. This class prefers to remain unnoticed by human eyes, staying away from battlefields and active map points and excels at hiding aided by their ghillie suit. They carry tranquilizing ammunition and weaponry. They move more stealthily among zombies than other classes.

In terms of gameplay: the Survivalist class is more oriented toward PvE compared to other classes. It is well-suited for players who enjoy exploring the map extensively and not engaging in big combat, preferring not to initiate any aggressive actions. They have a ghillie suit starting from the second level and are effectively camouflaged from zombies. However, they incur significant penalties for death regardless of the cause. It's important to be cautious when playing this class as it can be challenging to grasp its concept correctly. They have tranquilizer bolts and a pistol (spawn with the tranq pistol start from level 2), which allows them to incapacitate players, but it's essential not to use this against allies as it can negatively impact your points.

Progression

  • Provide various types of assistance to allies, such as providing food and offering medical aid, perform operation.
  • Killing enemy classes and traitors. Is a less significant and undesirable way to progress.
  • Simply stay alive and survive as long as possible is a primary goal.
  • Kill zombies and clear areas.
  • Capturing Stronghold points and continuing to hold them.
  • Destroying stashes belonging to enemy classes and their vehicles.
  • Attacking and eliminating enemy class dogs.

Regression

  • Providing assistance to any hostile class. (Traitors from your own or allied class are not considered enemies when it comes to providing assistance.)
  • Any interaction or cooperation with enemy classes, including traveling in the same vehicle with them.
  • Injure Survivalists or allied classes.
  • Killing other Survivalists or allied classes.
  • Destroying stashes belonging to other Survivalists or allied classes.
  • Shooting at dogs, whether they belong to you, other Survivalists, or allied classes.
  • Tie or tranquilizing other Survivalists or allied classes especially allowing them to die in this state.
  • Dying by any reason, death results in significant penalties, so it's essential to avoid this.

The Anarchy

An anarchic alliance built on the denial of the importance of rules, lack of authority, and freedom of action. The faction includes classes such as:

  • Outlaw
  • Scavenger

🠖 Outlaw

The Outlaws - post-apocalyptic anarchists trying to build their new world based on their own vision. They are bandits, raiders who prefer to engage in battles for influence and are loyal only to their ideology. They specialize in explosives, of various scales and methods. They have a fragile alliance with the Scavengers. They always have a grenade without a pin specially for you so do not trust them. They often work in groups.

In terms of gameplay: the Outlaws are a PVP class in their faction. If you want to actively create combat situations and fight, raid and use not only firearms but also explosives, this is class for you. Shooting other Outlaws has fewer consequences due to the anarchic nature of the faction, but I don't recommend using this as a way to resolve disputes, as it can still lead to you becoming a traitor. At higher levels, they have explosive vests and grenades, as well as custom backpacks. This class has a passive skill that reduces weapon recoil more and more with each level. IED drone perk is insane. The Outlaw class is quite effective, especially in the early stages of the game.

Regression

  • Injured Outlaws or Scavengers.
  • Killing other Outlaws or Scavengers.
  • Destroying stashes belonging to other Outlaws or Scavengers.
  • Shooting at dogs, whether they belong to you, other Outlaws or Scavengers.
  • Tie or tranquilizing other Outlaws or Scavengers especially allowing them to die in this state.

🠖 Scavenger

The Scavengers - looters and thieves. They are willing to do whatever it takes to obtain valuable items, even if it means rummaging through corpses. They don't care about where they search, the end result is all that matters to them. They are unconcerned about anyone or anything except what they have acquired. They have a cover provided by the Outlaws, allowing them to conduct their activities more extensively. Scavengers prefer looting and pilfering without direct contact with other classes. They have a fragile alliance with the Outlaws, which enables them to carry out their dirty activities.

In terms of gameplay: this class is suitable for those who enjoy looting and aren't inclined to be overly friendly. Looting is the primary means of leveling up and this class is well-equipped for it. They have good backpacks for this starting from the third level. However, it's important to note that this class can be quite devious and you shouldn't think of them as a pacifistic Survivalists. Scavengers can inflict harm and take your loot. They have and use items like Molotov cocktails, Poison grenades. Their capacious backpacks are concealed under their feathered ghillie camouflage what allowing them to remain more covert and not reveal their "crate" on their back. Scavengers build the largest capacity stashes.

Progression

  • Providing assistance to any hostile class. (Traitors from your own or allied class are not considered enemies when it comes to providing assistance.)
  • Looting. Loot everything what spawn on the map like boxes, bags.
  • Scavenging corpses by "Loot Remains" action to earn points.
  • Killing enemy classes and traitors.
  • Capture Region points and holding them.
  • Destroying stashes and vehicles of any class.
  • Kill enemy dogs.
  • Kill zombies and clear areas.

Regression

  • Dying from players. You will receive minus of points for death, and the amount of minus increase with each level.
  • Providing assistance to any hostile class. (Traitors from your own or allied class are not considered enemies when it comes to providing assistance.)
  • Any interaction or cooperation with enemy classes, including traveling in the same vehicle with them.
  • Injure Scavengers and Outlaws.
  • Killing other Scavengers and Outlaws.
  • Shooting at dogs, whether they belong to you, other Scavengers or Outlaws.
  • Tie or tranquilizing other Scavengers or Outlaws especially allowing them to die in this state.

Stalker

The Stalkers are represented by a single class:

  • Hunter

🠖 Hunter

The Hunters - free for all class. Known for their ruthless and psychopathic tendencies. These biggest killers in the apocalyptic world are indifferent to how others feel or think about them and they are driven solely by the desire for violence and bloodshed. It's a rare moment to find Hunters in a group due to their merciless attitude toward all classes, even to other Hunters. They have no values or ideals. Hunters have increased movement speed and higher regeneration when consuming human meat. Additionally, they can hear the heartbeat of other players within a certain radius while under the influence of consuming human meat.

In terms of gameplay: this class is a literal headhunter, psychopath, and hunter all in one. It's best choice for FFA PvP playstyle, Hunter is the class where you're killing everyone and everyone want to kill you. This class is designed for experienced PvP players and requires great attention because enemies are everywhere, and you have no allies at least if you play solo. You have a pretty good movement speed at higher levels and excellent clothing capacity. You can tranq your victim with a throwable tranquilizer syringe and earn points for gutting. However be cautious because the temptation of such easy way can lead to consequences in the form of bullet rain from your target's allies :). Btw you start getting minus points for death starting from the first level.

Progression

  • Kill them all.
  • Gut everyone after tranqing or tying them up.
  • Destroy any stashes, vehicles.
  • Kill player dogs.
  • Kill zombies and clear areas.

Regression

  • Providing assistance to enemies.
  • Any interaction, cooperation with enemy classes, ride together in the same vehicle with them.
  • Dying from other players.

Zombies

Zombies, undeads, in addition to AI this side represents the game class:

  • Undead

🠖 Undead

The Undeads - representatives of the undead, gathering entire hordes to turn all survivors into zombies. A zombie class, quite powerful and for sure have own drawbacks but also have interesting abilities.

In terms of gameplay: zombie class in which you can have fun against players in various ways from attempting to flip a car onto them to unleashing a zombie hordes on them or simply forcing them to expend all ammo and then feasting on the defenseless victim. Don't think you can fly or drive vehicles while play this class. Additionally, you cannot loot.

Progression

  • Kill players and consume the bodies of victims.

Regression

  • Dying without any impact.

Perks

  • Enhanced jumps. Both upwards and forward leaps.
  • Call a horde of zombies.
  • Increased movement speed.
  • Regeneration. With each level the regeneration rate increases.
  • Powerful attack capable of overturning vehicles.
  • Accelerated regeneration. +25% with each level.
