This article describes managing and trading Solana SPL tokens secured in your Solana (SOL) account.

Before you start

• Download and install Ledger Live on your computer.
• Make sure that the OS of your Ledger device is up to date and that you have the latest version of the Solana (SOL) app on your Ledger device.

Making SPL token transactions with your Ledger device and Ledger Live

You can manage your SPL tokens directly from your Solana account in Ledger Live. To do this, simply select the Send, Receive, or Swap option in your account in Ledger Live to perform these transactions using your Ledger device.

Swapping SPL tokens via Ledger Live

Note: Ledger Nano S™ does not support swapping Solana Tokens in Ledger Live. To swap, use any other Ledger device such as the Ledger Nano S Plus™, Ledger Nano X™, Ledger Flex™, or Ledger Stax™.

1. Open Ledger Live, and select Swap. You can find it on the menu on the left and also at the top of the Portfolio tab.
2. Select the assets that you want to swap—Ledger Live has support for 130+ SPL tokens, including popular coins like USDC, BONK, RAY, JUP, and PENGU.
3. Once you’ve confirmed your assets, choose your preferred swap provider and click on a quote offer to continue.
4. Open the exchange app on your Ledger device to confirm your transaction.

You can find the details of your transaction in the History tab.

Connecting your Ledger device to a third-party wallet

This section will use Solflare as an example of how to safely use a  software wallet in conjunction with your Ledger device.

Connecting your Ledger device to Solflare

1. Go to the Solflare website.

2. Connect your Ledger device and open the Solana app on your device. The words ‘Application is ready’ should appear on your Ledger screen.

    

3. On the Solflare website, click Access Wallet.

    

4. Select Ledger > Continue.

    

5. Click Continue then select your Ledger device and click Connect.

   

6. Choose and confirm a password then click Continue.

7. Select m/44’/501’/0′ for the derivation path.

    

8. Select your account then click Continue.

Sending SPL tokens with your Ledger wallet and Solflare

1. On your Ledger device, open the Solana app then go to Settings > Allow blind signing and press both buttons to select Yes. You can find more detailed instructions here.

2. Select a token and click Send.

    

3. Select the amount and the recipient address then click Send.

   Your Ledger device displays: Transfer tokens…  

4. Use the buttons on your Ledger to review the transaction. If all looks good, navigate to Approve and press both buttons simultaneously to sign the transaction.

   

   You’re done. Once the transaction is confirmed on the Solana blockchain, the token balance will appear in the destination address.

   

My token is not displayed in Solflare

In case the token is not automatically added to Solflare, you may have to add it manually. To do this, simply click on the ‘+ Add New Asset‘ option in Solflare and simply enter the token ticker to add it to the Solflare dashboard.
