Help: Formulae in Common Chart

This page provides instructions and information about the Formulae in Common chart in Qur'an Tools.

Purpose

  • To help users understand the connections between different suras in the Qur'an based on their formulaic content.

Key Features

  • Visualizes the formulaic commonalities between suras in a chart.
  • Allows users to filter the results based on:
    • Sura to analyze
    • Formula length
    • Formula type
    • Sura type (Meccan, Medinan, or all)
    • Sorting options

Instructions

  1. Select the sura to analyze from the list.
  2. Choose the formula length and type.
  3. Specify the sura type to display.
  4. Click the "Sort By" option to sort the columns.
  5. Examine the chart columns to see the number of formulae in common between each sura.
  6. Click on a column to drill down and view verse-level detail of the formulae in common.

Additional Information

  • The chart shows the number of different formulae, not the total number of times a formula appears.
