Purpose

This chart presents the formulaic density of each verse in a given Quranic surah. Formulaic density is the percentage of words in a verse that are part of formulas.

Data

  • Vertical Axis Formulaic density (%)
  • Horizontal Axis Verse number

Parameters

  • Surah The surah for which the formulaic density is to be calculated.
  • Formula Length The minimum length of formulas to be considered.
  • Formula Type The type of formulas to consider (root, root with particles/pronouns, or lemmata).

Features

  • The chart displays the formulaic density for each verse in the selected surah.
  • The user can adjust the formula length and type to customize the results.
  • The chart can be exported as an image or PDF file.

Additional Information

  • Formulaic density is a measure of the complexity of the language used in the Quran.
  • Surah Al-Baqarah has the highest formulaic density of any surah in the Quran.
