Welcome to the Streaming wiki! This guide explains how to set up streaming services for movies and TV shows using Real-Debrid, Stremio and Stremio Addons.

Introduction

Real-Debrid

Real-Debrid is a premium service that functions both as a link generator and remote torrent downloader. It converts links from file-hosting sites into direct download links while also fetching torrent content to its servers, allowing users to stream or download that content directly. This eliminates the need for using torrent apps from personal devices and provides access to cached torrents and file for instant streaming. Real-Debrid integrates with applications like Stremio (via addons like Torrentio) to deliver streaming sources with improved speed and privacy, as the service handles the downloading process on its own servers.

Note: While there are a number of debrid services, for the purpose of this guide, I will cover only Real-Debrid.

Stremio

Stremio is an open-source media center application that organizes and streams video content from various sources. It functions through a plugin-based system where users install "addons" to access different content libraries. A single unified app thus provides access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV+ and much more.

Torrentio/Comet

Torrentio and Comet are third-party addons for Stremio that scrapes torrent sites and presents the results as streamable content within the Stremio interface. It acts as a bridge between torrent sites and Stremio, allowing users to stream content from torrents without downloading the entire file first. When combined with services like Real-Debrid, they can provide access to higher quality sources.

Cost

Stremio is free to use. The cost associated with this service is usually from Real-Debrid, which is around 4 Eur for 30 days (cheaper if a 6 month option is chosen).

Supported Platforms

Stremio is available for Android, Android TV, Windows, Linux, macOS and Raspberry Pi. TVs from Samsung and LG have Stremio available on the app store. It is possible to use Stremio on Fire devices and iOS with some workarounds.

Installation

📌 If you are planning to setup Stremio on a TV, I recommend doing the following steps on a desktop or laptop first. After this initial configuration is complete, Stremio can be installed on your TV. All plugins and configuration will be copied over.

1. Sign up for Real-Debrid

Visit real-debrid.com (affiliate link; supports me with extra premium time) and register for an account. After an account is created and you are logged in, choose Premium Offers on the top menu and pick a plan. There is no automatic renewal, so you may have to manually set an expiry reminder.

Once you have a premium plan, on the top menu choose My Devices and note down the long string of characters under API Private Token. We will use this token later on when configuring Stremio addons. You do not need to click Refresh on this section.

2. Install Stremio

  • Visit stremio.com and create an account.
  • From the Downloads tab, download and install the appropriate version for your PC, if you plan to configure it first on a desktop or laptop.

Note: The stable version is recommended.

  • For Windows 10 & 11 users, if you get prompted by Windows Firewall, allow access to Public Networks.

3. Configure Addons

  • Open the app and login with the credentials you used to sign up.
  • Navigate to the Addons section on the left, and to My Addons.
  • If you wish to keep it tidy, proceed to uninstall all addons except the default ones, which cannot be removed:
    • Cinemeta
    • OpenSubtitles V3
    • OpenSubtitles
    • Local Files

4. Install and configure Torrentio

  • Go to torrentio.strem.fun/configure.
  • Choose these settings initially, but feel free to experiment with something that works best for you.
    • Providers - Select all
    • Sorting - By quality then size
    • Priority foreign language - According to your preference (or None)
    • Exclude Qualities - Check 480p, CAM and Screener. Depending on what you select, torrents from these type of video resolutions won't show up in Stremio.
    • Max Results per Quality - Leave blank
    • Debrid provider - RealDebrid
    • RealDebrid API Key - Paste the API Key you have from RealDebrid
    • Debrid options - Select both options
  • Click Install after all options have been populated. This will open Stremio with a window prompting you install the Torrentio RD addon. Click Install again in Stremio and this will complete the configuration.

5. Optional (Recommended): Install Trakt integration

You're all set! 🎉 Now that everything is configured, you can start streaming. If you need to install Stremio on other devices like your smart TV, your settings and add-ons are synced automatically. Happy watching! 🍿

Tips:

  • When viewing streams, choose [RD+] streams. These are cached on Real-Debrid servers so will stream with minimal latency.
  • If your internet connection is slow, choose streams that are 1080p (or lower resolutions).
