ERRORS! What to do? - vsevolod-ivanov/Ivanov-Group-Wiki GitHub Wiki
Google!
Before trying anything else, search your error on Google! Make sure to include the software you are using; for example "VASP ZBRENT: fatal error in bracketing" . Usually there will be someone else that has run into your error, and there will be some possible solutions.
You can also try to ask ChatGPT or some other AI tool. Sometimes they can provide an answer faster than google. Though it is important to be careful with the solutions they provide – generally they don't know the inner workings of VASP or other code you are using, so take their advice at your own risk!
Ask the group on Teams
If you can't find the solution to your error, try asking the group. The best place to ask is on the "Code & Software" thread on the Teams group. Alternatively you can reach out to people directly, or bring up your issue during group meeting – it will motivate discussion and help you find a solution.
Submit a ticket
If you absolutely cannot find a solution, or you think you have encountered a genuine bug, it may be worthwhile to submit a ticket to VT ARC to get help with your problem. They are generally quite helpful, but only use this as a last resort if no other solution seems to work.
