Update - vpinball/b2s-backglass GitHub Wiki

Updaters:

Whatever you do to your installation, make sure you do a backup first. No backup - no pity!

PinUP Popper BALLER Installer users please wait!, we are still working on a smooth upgrade.

Things to backup:

It is always a good idea to backup the folder where your B2S Server is installed. Backup all files that belong to the server: Anything starting with B2S, B2SBackglassServer.dll, B2SBackglassServerEXE.exe, B2SServerPluginInterface.dll, ...

**(It is always a good idea to have a backup of:) ScreenRes.txt, B2STableSettings.xml, Backup your plugins folder! Make sure you can restore your B2S-BackglassServer files if something goes wrong.

How to update

To update your installed server, download the zip file containing the new version, unzip all files and unblock them if necessary. (using 7zip will make unblocking unnecessary, 7zip can do this for you)

Put all the files into the folder where your Backglass server is already installed, overwriting the old files. For most installations this will be your tables folder. Do not delete or copy over your existing screenres.txt and your B2STableSettings.xml.

B2SBackglassServerEXE.exe is already Large Address Aware. No need to patch 4GB anymore!.

If you have copied over your files your server will run but it is a good idea to register it again by running B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp.exe. With version 2.0.0 there is a new feature to edit your tablename.res and/or copy your screenres template to your table using a RightMouseClick-ContextMenu. To get these features, it is also registered using the B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp.exe. (See description)

If it does not work the first time, a reboot may work wonders.

Things to consider

The new default for exact .directb2s match has changed since 2.0.2 to ON. If you suddenly have problem that it doesn't find your backglasses, you can change back the setting or rename the files.
