Checking filaments - vivianlu9/EMAX_VOA_sandbox GitHub Wiki

On ChemStation

  1. Check the name of the tune file you're using.
  2. Go to Manual Tune and load the tune file you're currently using.
  3. Go to AdjParams > Edit MS Params > Scan.
  4. If the screen says No emission current that means the filament is burnt out. Change the filament number to either 1 or 2 (depending on which filament you just checked) and click Scan.
  5. Retune using the remaining filament and run a test. If the responses change significantly, you may need to run another ICAL.

If there are no remaining filaments, you need to open the MS and replace them. See Opening the MS.

On Agilent

  1. Go to View > Tune and Vacuum Control > Parameters > Edit MS Parameters > Scan.
  2. If the screen says No emission current that means the filament is burnt out. Change the filament number to either 1 or 2 (depending on which filament you just checked) and click Scan.

You should see this if the filament is intact.
