Step 4: Setup a test channel and test it in the TV Guide - vexorian/dizquetv GitHub Wiki

Your dizqueTV is running, your Plex connection is configured and your ffmpeg is ready. Now you should create a single channel to test the that dizqueTV is actually able to play videos.

In the web UI, go to the channel tab. Then click the + button. Pick a channel description and number. Leave the placeholder icon for now.

In the programming section , there's a + button that you can use to add stuff from your plex library. Add some random programs and save the channel.

Then go to the TV Guide tab. Wait a minute or so until the TV Guide is updated with your new channel. A play button will appear when you hover the mouse cursor on the channel.

In order to use this Play button, you need a media player like VLC or MPV installed on your desktop.

Click play, then select the media player to open the link. Hopefully it plays your channel. If not, it will be trouble shooting time. The reason this guide suggests testing in a media player from the TV Guide directly before doing more complex things like adding dizqueTV to plex, is that those additional steps introduce more failure points. But if dizqueTV can't even play content in VLC or MPV, then it will definitely not be able to do the more complex stuff. So let's focus on solving those issues first. Troubleshooting playback issues.
