Weapon statistics
Although GAMMA normalizes damage to largely be equal across guns of the same caliber (i.e. using the same type of bullet), guns still have different statistics that can affect how they feel to fire.
Guns are most accurate when firing from a stationary, crouching position using single shots, with a steady aim. Moving, running, standing, and rapidly moving the camera all impose a penalty to accuracy - equivalent to waving your gun around which leads to less accurate shots.
Accuracy
Accuracy affects overall accuracy modifiers. Upgrading accuracy will result in less overall bullet dispersion.
Flatness
Flatness upgrades increase bullet velocity, which results in a flatter trajectory for bullets fired (less bullet drop over distance). It does not affect damage, since bullet velocity is not taken into account by Grok's Ballistic Overhaul. This is largely useless in GAMMA outside of niche circumstances, like the VSS with its very exaggerated bullet drop.
Handling
Upgrading handling reduces various unmarked accuracy penalties. Higher handling means less of an accuracy penalty for moving, standing, rapid aim changes or firing on full-auto. It is related to accuracy in that both of these stats decrease bullet dispersion, resulting in a tighter overall grouping of shots.
Recoil
Higher recoil stats reduce the degree by which your aim moves around after firing.
AI in Combat
General tips
- Do not stay still! The AI in G.A.M.M.A. is very good at flanking, locating you and punishing anyone hunkering down, either by suppressing and flanking or by using grenades.
