Overriding built-in item categorization

Built-in Categories are read-only, but you can easily create custom Categories to place items where you want them.

ℹ️ Some important points to keep in mind:

Instructions

  1. Enter Edit Mode: Click the top left icon (or right-click a blank spot) and choose Edit Mode.
  2. Alt+click the item you want to move.
  3. Click the Group where you want to place the item.
You can also click one of the thin [+] bars to create a new Group.
  4. A menu will open. Select the Category Assignment submenu and click New….
If you already have existing custom Categories assigned to the Group, those will be listed as well.
  5. The Category Editor will appear. Give the new Category a name (it can be the same as the Group name if you want) and click the Save 💾 icon in the top right.

The item should now jump to the Group you selected. You can close the Category Editor and Manager if you're done.

Creating a Group

  1. Enter Edit Mode: Click the top left icon (or right-click a blank spot) and choose Edit Mode.
  2. Click the thin [+] bar where you want your new Group to live.
  3. Give it a name and click Create.

The Group now exists, but it won't pull in items until you assign a Category, so let's do that:

  1. Right-click the newly-created Group.
  2. Navigate to the Add/Remove submenu under the Categories heading.
  3. Either choose an existing Category, or choose New… to create one.
