Gemini Watermark Remover
Retired. This module has been withdrawn and is no longer available to install. If your site already has it, it will carry on working for now, but there will be no further updates or fixes - uninstall it from Modules whenever suits you.
The Gemini Watermark Remover module does exactly what it says on the tin: drop in an image generated by Google Gemini and it comes back without the little watermark Gemini stamps in the corner, saved straight into your media library.
Where it lives now. The remover used to have a sidebar link of its own. It is now a Watermark remover tab on the Media page, which is where you were headed with the finished picture anyway. Old links still work.
Setting it up
- Install the module from Modules in the admin (repository:
cactus-foundation-modules/gemini-watermark-remover). - Nothing to configure - no credentials, no settings tab. Once installed, a Watermark Remover page appears in your admin sidebar.
Using it
- Go to Watermark Remover in the admin sidebar.
- Drag an image onto the box, or click it to choose a file. PNG, JPEG and WebP are all fine.
- The watermark comes off and the cleaned image lands in your Media library under its original filename, ready to use anywhere on the site.
If an image doesn't have a Gemini watermark on it, you'll be told as much and nothing extra gets added to your media library - no point cluttering it up with a duplicate of something that was already clean.
You can drop in more than one image at a time; each is processed and reported on separately.
How it works, in plain terms
Gemini's watermark is a faint stamp laid over your picture. The module checks the handful of spots Gemini is known to stamp, confirms the stamp is genuinely sitting in one of them by looking at the actual pixels (Gemini has been known to move it about between updates), then mathematically lifts the stamp back off - putting the original pixels back as they were underneath. Because it reconstructs rather than paints over, sharp lines like a desk edge or a shelf stay crisp instead of smudging. It all happens right in your browser; nothing is uploaded anywhere else to do it.
On the rare image where it can't fully clean the mark, it tells you so rather than pretending the job's done.
