Discussion Summary

  • Derald Dudley (BTS) opened the meeting by going through the introductory slides and agenda.

  • Jacob Brady detailed the pull requests he created for the several, prioritized issues that were discussed by the subgroup membership in the previous meeting.

    • Jacob presented respective pull requests and their proposed solutions; seeing if there is any dissent on the proposed resolution with the membership.
  • PR #151: Include explicit licensing information in RoadEventFeedInfo

    • No comments from the membership, okay with moving forward this licensing pull request using the Creative Commons (CCO) license.
  • PR #145: Allow specifying a GeoJSON Bounding Box for the WZDx Feed and RoadEventFeature objects

    • No comments from the membership, move forward with the proposed solution.
  • PR #146: Move road event ID to from RoadEvent "road_event_id" to RoadEventFeature "id"

    • No comments from the membership, move forward with the proposed solution.
  • PR #147: Refactor LaneType enumeration to deprecate values that can be determined from other properties (i.e., order/status)

    • No comments from the membership, move forward with the proposed solution.
  • PR #148: Deprecate the total_num_lanes property on the RoadEvent object

    • No comments from the membership, move forward with the proposed solution.
  • PR #150: Allow array for RoadEvent road_name; deprecate road_number

    • No comments from the membership, move forward with the proposed solution.
  • PR #152: Local Access Only

    • Craig commented for the subgroup to provide feedback on GitHub for Which of the proposed solutions the membership feels is the most clear messaging for local access only? This PR really needs more feedback.
  • Issue #6: Recurrent Events

    • Recurrent events has been a perennial issue; proposing JSCalendar (as opposed to iCal) as a framework for recurrent events. *JSCalendar is a JavaScript-based implementation of iCal.
    • Craig and Skylar detailed the potential solutions to this issue using JSCalendar.
    • Folks that have ben working with smart traffic control devices are really critical for input on this issue. *How would their device interact with, and represent, (smart) work events using JSCalendar?
  • Issue #78: Conditions for breaking a work zone into multiple road events

    • While the onus is on the TA Subgroup to push the issue forward through discussions, the subgroup membership needs to providetheirr comments on GitHub for them to do so.
  • Issue #128: Content/value of lrs_type is unclear

    • Craig stated that if anyone's organization is feeling value with this one being included, please let us know, otherwise this is another candidate for deprecation.
  • Next Steps and Action Items

    • Meeting #4 is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2021.
      • Derald Dudley detailed 3 upcoming WZDx-related workshops (i.e., events where WZDx will hold a session): GIS-T 2021, NSGIC 2021, and AASHTO 2021. More information is forthcoming.
