You can modify and compile your own kernel for UP starting from the source code used by our prebuilt kernel packages.

Run the following command:

apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r)

Then follow the steps provided by Canonical: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/BuildYourOwnKernel

• Install the latest Trusty release
• From a terminal, add the UP board PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubilinux/up

• Update the package database:

sudo apt update

• Install the upboard kernel package

sudo apt install linux-upboard-lts-xenial

• Remove the other kernel images

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge 'linux-.*generic'

• Enabling the serial console on Ubuntu
• Enabling the UP2 Watchdog on Ubuntu
