UP boards are compatible with most operating systems that target standard Intel x86 64-bit platforms.
The UP boards use some of the latest peripherals available by several manufacturers as of late 2016 and early 2017. Therefore, the only limitations would be based on operating systems that do not have the current drivers available. UP attempts to package and release Windows drivers for officially supported Windows operating systems versions.
Operating systems based on Linux and BSD must have driver support with their kernels to support the latest hardware.
Below is a list of the officially supported operating systems. These have been tested and drivers are provided where applicable in the Downloads section.
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and 16.04 LTS (requires PPA packages installed for GPIO support)
- ubilinux™
- Windows 10 (download drivers)
- Windows 8.1 (download drivers)
