The graph below shows how different kinds blocks and items of Stone can be crafted, starting with Raw Stone at the top.
Usage
Rough stone blocks are subject to gravity and will fall down when not supported from bellow. They will not fall sideways like dirt would for example. This means they can be used to construct walls, but not roofs and ceilings.

Rough Stone Brick and Tile blocks do not fall.

Notes
- TFC wooden supports can be used to keep Rough Stone blocks from falling.
- Rough Stone, Rough Stone Brick and Rough Stone Tile blocks can be Carved using an Adze into arbitrary shapes.
- Up to 2 Loose Rough Stone Bricks or Tiles can be harvested when carving Rough Stone Brick or Tile blocks.
- Rough Stone blocks will not fall and destroy a Carved block that is directly under them.
- Quarrying a Rough Stone block and chiseling it yields 2 regular smooth stone blocks.
- Quarrying a Slate Rough Stone block, splitting it into Loose Rough Stone Bricks or Tiles and chiseling them yields 4 slate bricks. These can be further chiseled into 8 slate shingles total. Mining the block with a pickaxe only yields 2.5 slate shingles total on average.
Future Features
- Rough Stone blocks are intended to entirely replace Raw Stone blocks once mined out
