Masonry - unforbidable/tfcplus-bids GitHub Wiki
Description
Masonry represents a way to create different blocks from the same material directly in the world based on plans.
Construction
Begin masonry by shift-right clicking a valid side of a valid block while holding binding material or a suitable tool, such as a trowel, that applies binding material present on the hot bar.
Typically, valid blocks are stone or brick based building blocks. An unfinished Masonry block is not valid.
Top side is always valid. East, West, North and South sides are valid, as long as the created masonry block is supported from below. A valid side must be entirely solid.
Masonry block created on the side of a block can be supported by any solid block or Wood Support block structure that is directly below it.
Selecting plan
After the mortar is applied and the masonry block is created, the selected masonry plan is highlighted over the block. Initially, the last plan that was used by the player is selected again. Press 'N' key to cycle through the available plans while looking at the masonry block.
Some plans can be rotated and the highlighted shape will change depending on the position of the player. Different plans may be available when the masonry block is attached to a side instead of the top of a block.
The availability of masonry plans may be subject to the kind of block which the masonry block is attached to.
Adding material
When the desired plan is selected, right click the masonry block while holding building material, typically bricks, to add the required amount. The required amount depends on the type of building material as well as the selected plan.
More binding material is required and will be automatically consumed from the hotbar with each building material added, except the very last one. In total, the equal amount of binding and building material is needed to complete a masonry block.
Depending on the type of mortar used, different building material can be added and different plans are available to create different blocks.
Once completed, a masonry block is automatically converted to the target block, or an appropriate Carving, as available.
Materials
| Building material | Binding material | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mud brick | Mud mortar | 2 | |
| Rough brick | Mud mortar | 2 | |
| Rough tiles | Mud mortar | 2 | |
| Bricks | Mortar | 4 | Trowel needed |
| Stone | Mortar | 2 | Trowel needed |
| Stone bricks | Mortar | 4 | Trowel needed |
| Fire clay bricks | Mortar | 4 | Trowel needed, only Full block and Chimney available |
Plans
| Plan | Material required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Full block | 1 | |
| Fence | 0.5 | |
| Slab | 0.5 | Place up or down |
| Stair | 0.75 | Place up or down, and rotate East, West, North or South |
| Corner | 0.25 | Place up or down, and rotate East, West, North or South |
| Chimney | 0.75 | Not available for rough bricks and rough tiles |
Material required refers to the multiplier, where 1 consumes the whole amount, i.e. 2 or 4, depending on the building material. The final value is rounded up. For example, if 2 mud bricks are needed to build a full block, and the plan for chimney requires 0.75, the resulting amount of 1.5 material is rounded up, and 2 bricks will be needed to build a mud brick chimney.
Future features
- Stove will be created from various materials using masonry.
- Some plans may require a certain level player skill.
