✅ Highlights & Achievements

During this week's productive session, the team successfully integrated the IMDb Movies Dataset into our project resources, enhancing our dataset's richness and utility. Key accomplishments include:

  • Added a new dataset (IMDB Movies Dataset) to our collection.
  • Updated the repository's README file to include the new dataset.
  • Leveraged SQL and Python for dataset analysis, which helped us better understand and enable effective data combinations.
  • Developed our initial Jupyter notebooks entry.
  • Generated individual and combined plots visualizing the number of movies per genre across different streaming platforms, providing the first insightful comparative analysis.
  • Strengthened our foundation for the upcoming sprint update presentation through technical skill enhancement, workflow optimization, and teamwork fortification.

❗ Challenges

Our journey this week was not without its hurdles, ranging from technical difficulties to environmental challenges, including:

  • The initial dataset's lack of crucial information, such as movie genres, caused the integration of an additional dataset to get the necessary information.
  • Recurrent Wi-Fi connectivity issues at the cafe disrupted our workflow.
  • The need to replicate certain analytical steps in Python after initially conducting them in SQL, demanding extra effort and time.
  • Diverse coding environments among team members (Some team members used Visual Studio Code, others used Google Colab), which caused some challenges.
  • Technical limitations faced by a team member using an iPad, highlighting the need for compatible and accessible tools.
  • Initial challenges in merging and exporting combined datasets, which were eventually overcome with collective effort and research.
