Quick Start - ugcs/GeoHammer GitHub Wiki
Idea is to simplify processing of large amounts of GPR or CSV data and allow survey results assessment by not geophysicists in the field. It will never be a replacement for full-blown geophysical packages like Oasis Montaj, Prism2, Geolitix etc.
If creating a GPR amplitude maps is required click here.
That being said, let's start!
-
Download the latest build - UgCS GeoHammer (select .zip file).
-
Extract files to any folder.
-
Start app using geohammer.exe or start.cmd (on Windows) or start.sh (on Mac or Linux).
-
Click on "Open files" or drag and drop .sgy or .csv files (even folders) to the application window.
You will see the track on the map, profile in the center and processing menu on the right side.

- Click "Select area" button and select area of interest using the selection tool and then click on the "Apply crop" to get individual profiles.
- You will see that your one continuous profile was split to multiple separate profiles.
- Let's remove one of the transversely laid out flight lines to have the profiles facing only one direction.
- Double left-click on the profile that needs to be removed to highlight it, press "Fit current line to window", click red X mark to delete the profile and click Ok to confirm.
- We have succesfully imported and edited our GPR profiles
Now we can start to do the data processing.
- Click "Remove background" (button on top-right) and adjust contrast slider till you get good reflections in the profile.
- You should see something like this. (Note, that radarogramms will differ in looks due to geology, flight altitude, settings in GPR etc.)
- We can also mark location of identified pipes or other structures. Double-click on the point of interest to create a waypoint and click on "Create mark"
.
- After we have marked our locations, we can use "Export marks to KML" and we can then upload them to any platform that supports .kml files, for example, Google Earth:
Note, that this option is only available for licensed software!
- For finalising the project, click "Save" to save new separate profiles to the same folder(s) as original file(s), or "Save To" to save them to a new folder. When you save the files, flags will be saved as marks in .sgy files, additional markup will be saved in separate files.
