News: captions - ucsf-ckm/ucsf-library-ux-and-web-documentation GitHub Wiki
News posts on the library site are created using the native block editor (aka Gutenberg).
Captions in news posts can be added under:
- individual images
- individual images that are part of a gallery
- under an entire gallery
The example post Saffron, Saint of Spices by Pantea Karimi 2021 Artist in Residence shows all three.
All captions
- slightly smaller than body text
- centered
- overlaid when images are part of a gallery and have individual captions
Faux captions
Since the short code blocks don’t have caption fields, this is an alternate solution. Add paragraph text centered and set size to small. It’s not identical, but it’s close.
Other pages on the library site rarely use captions.
Note that these pages are built using the Elementor Pro page builder plugin and captions can be added under:
- individual images
- individual images that are part of a gallery (no overlay)
Due to some styling conflicts, some CSS has been added to our custom stylesheet (under sections ++Images
and +News
) to make sure that captions display consistently.
