Guide for IF Creators: Uploading and Sharing Your Twine Game on Chigame
Welcome! This guide walks you through the full process of uploading, previewing, and publishing your Interactive Fiction (IF) games using Chigame. Whether you’re a first-time author or a seasoned writer, this page will help you get your story online and playable in just a few steps.
1.) Prepare Your IF Game File Chigame currently supports games created in Twine. Before proceeding, make sure you have: • A Twine .html file exported using “Publish to File” on the Twine website • The story is playable directly by opening the HTML in a browser.
2.) Upload Your Game Using the Creation Template
- Log into Chigame with your creator account.
- Navigate to the Game page and fine the "Create IF Game" Button • https://chigame.uchicago.edu/games/
- Fill out the required fields: • Title: Give your game a name. • Description: Provide a brief summary or teaser. • Tags: (Optional) Add keywords for discoverability. • Expected Playtime: Approximate time in minutes.
- Upload your Twine file: • Choose your .html file from your computer. • This will be embedded and playable from the site.
- Click Submit to create your game.
3.) Preview and Test Your Game! After submission: • You’ll be redirected to the game detail page. • Test that your game loads properly in the embedded viewer. • Check links, visuals, and transitions to ensure smooth gameplay. If something doesn’t work: • You can return to the game edit page and re-upload a new file.
