landing - uavpal/disco-docs GitHub Wiki
- longer strip is better! but always land in the direction of the wind. I'd say 40m is good, 20m could work.
- avoid a steep dive when approaching: make your approach as long, low and slow as possible (turn down the throttle). Practice flying over obstacles so you get an idea of the clearance (most relevant to me landing on confined, 20m landing strips)
- land on grass (sand can get in your electronics)
- not sure where to stand... I think I prefer to stand on the side instead of the end of the runway.
- have a bright screen on your tablet/phone!
- lens protection is the most important protection. Everything else can probably be glued.
- Disco (not) landing in a bed sheet on a boat
- professional UAV-flyer with basically a volleybal net with elasticity
Alternative for longer landing strip that isn't soft... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOo8Ct9ZSwU
No known practice. dJoris's idea: attach a hook on the top of the Disco and fly under a line with that. Line has to be attached to a rail or really elastic and high...
No known practice.
