As long as there is some form of quality gameplay or interaction, it’s considered a game by IGDB’s standards and will be allowed in the database.

Examples:

• Little Busters!
• Doki Doki Literature Club
• The House in Fata Morgana

If a Visual Novel includes sexual content, then please make sure that they follow our content policy and adult game guidelines.

Sometimes a Visual Novel can have multiple age ratings (from All Ages to 18+). If the game is originally censored but has an adult patch, we suggest adding the nsfw_patch as a keyword. A censored or All Ages game doesn't need to be marked 'Erotic'. If the game has adult/non adult content depending on platform and release year it might be worth separating the games into multiple game pages based on the versions.

Our suggestion is to have the 'All Ages' version as the main game/parent and the 'Adult' version as a version/child connected to the main game.
