Edition - twitchtv/igdb-contribution-guidelines GitHub Wiki
On IGDB, an edition is a release of a game with some extra physical or digital goodies included, but no changes made to the base game. Some examples of extras include artbooks, soundtracks, steelbook cases, as well as DLCs or even advanced access to the game ahead of general release.
Examples of releases we track as editions:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Limited Edition
- Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero - Ultimate Edition
- Undertale: Collector’s Edition
- Starfield: Premium Edition
Updated releases with improved visuals or expanded gameplay that would be tracked as remasters, remakes, ports, or expanded games would not be tracked as editions, regardless of “edition” being present in the title. A common example would be “Enhanced Edition” releases
Examples of releases we would not track as editions:
- System Shock: Enhanced Edition
- Lisa: The Painful - Definitive Edition
- Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition
- Dear Esther: Landmark Edition
To be tracked on IGDB as an edition, the game must be the main product. For example, a graphics card that comes with a free copy of a game would not be considered an edition of that game.
How to mark a game as an edition:
- On the General page, under 'Status' you have a checkbox called "This game is an edition" (previously known as Version).
- Click the checkbox and search for the title of the base game in the upper field.
- In the "Edition title" field you can add what kind of Edition it is.
