Add a new company name or select from previous companies. There are 4 types of companies available:

Publisher

The company has published the video game that it has either created internally or has had developed by another game developer. The game can have multiple publishers. The name of the publisher(s) can be found on the cover of the game case or the official website of the game.

Avoid adding websites like DLsite.com or Romhacking.net as publishers. These are websites that distribute games, aka distribution platforms. However, you should be able to find the developers/publishers through these websites.

Developer

The company (or person) that developed the game. The name can be found on their official homepage or on the cover of the game.

Porting Developer

When a developer joins forces with a 3rd party studio solely for the purpose of porting the game to a separate system. Example: Feral Interactive is a studio specializing in Mac & Linux ports and helped to work on Bioshock 2.

Supporting Developer

When a specific aspect of a game is outsourced to a 3rd party studio in order to help the development. Example: In Bioshock 2, Digital Extreme helped develop the Multiplayer mode.

Platforms

Each company type can be associated with a platform. This is especially relevant for Publishers or porting developers who may only be involved with specific platforms.
